I can't believe that Christmas is already over! I say that every year on December 26th, I know. With all of the activity and rush that occurs beforehand, time just always flies by. But there was something a bit different about this year's Christmas... a wonderfully pleasant surprise really. I made it through without having those depressing thoughts of how alone I am and how I have to celebrate solo even when surrounded by family and friends.
I seem to have had an increase of questions regarding my social and love life lately, almost as if it's a sign. For example my sister-in-law asked yesterday if I "had any prospects on the horizon". LOL What kind of question is that?! But I very slyly answered, "maybe" and because of all the conversation going on around us at the time, she was interrupted and unable to quiz me any further.
But there really IS something behind that "maybe", for I have been building on a relationship, ever so quietly. Over the past few weeks, it has really started to progress, sometimes a bit too fast, and sometimes it doesn't feel fast enough. Regardless, I'm enjoying every minute of it and it has made for a great Christmas gift! And if he's reading this blog, as sometimes he does, I just wanted to say thanks for giving me a Christmas where I finally didn't feel like I was celebrating alone.

Dreaming of a White Christmas

I really only love snow at Christmastime and it has snowed off and on in the past 48 hours, increasing my Christmas Spirit. (Which I definitely need, since I can tend to be a scrouge sometimes.)

Anyway, I snapped this photo of the snow on the tree in my front yard yesterday. Makes me feel like I'm up in the mountains, snowed into a cabin. I wouldn't mind that at all, especially if I was with someone special and had no where to go.

O Christmas Tree

I finally got the tree up last week. I made myself do it, since I haven't really been as much in the festive mood this year. I think it worked. I enjoy it's lights every night and even added some to the windows.
I also just have to announce that today, I am officially done with my Christmas shopping! Yay!! I still need to actually make a few gifts, but no more crowds in the stores!

CHRISTMAS VACATION
FROM DECEMBER 2006
One of my favorite things about working in a school setting is that I get all the basic school vacations off of work. For the past week or so I have been on what my employment calls "winter break" (in an attempt to make it sound politically correct). To me, it's just a good ol' Christmas Vacation. And boy has it gone by quickly!!
My original plans for part of my vacation time went down hill the first day I was off of work. I was scheduled to fly out of our closest airport and go to Denver to visit my brother and his family for Christmas. But due to all that snow in Denver, my flight as well as many, many others were cancelled. It was amazing to watch the news and see all of the people stuck in the Denver airport, unable to fly out. I was actually a bit grateful I wasn't able to go -- mostly because I was still at home and not stuck out there somewhere. But I had also been battling a cold and right around the same day I was scheduled to fly, my cold turned into bronchitis. Man, I was down for about 4 days with a fever, chills, aches, and a terrible cough. (Still have the cough and probably will for a while.) Not the most enjoyable way to spend a vacation. Although, I can't say that I didn't mind the excuse to just lay around for a few days.
I had an enjoyable Christmas regardless. I'm not so sure that my family that I spent the day with appreciated me being sick around them, so I tried to not get too close. That's pretty hard when there's a cute little great nephew toddling around.
I've also been able to do a little bit of the traditional Christmas baking -- too bad I wasn't able to actually do it before Christmas! Oh well, no one would have wanted germy cookies anyway. I enjoy the actual baking part the most. Although the eating part can be good too.
And now here we face a New Year. Sigh... that's a whole other entry to save for later. But along with that new year, I have to go back to work. Yuck!! I really could get used to being unemployed. But that's a bit impossible since I need money to survive. Hmmm... maybe 2007 will bring me some luck and I'll win the lottery (I would have to actually buy a ticket for the luck to work). Or maybe I'll find a "sugar daddy"!
Anywhoo... Happy New Year to everyone! I'll talk about some of my resolutions soon.

CRAZY BUSY LIFE!

Wow, I hadn't realized how long it had been since I wrote an entry in my blog. Guess it goes to show where I'm spending my time... or at least where I'm not spending my time and that is on my computer. I usually like to get online, check email and check out a singles site that I have a profile onto see who's new there and who's checked me out ;). And then I flit around a bit to different sites, including those that I pay my bills on or my checking. And once in a while I find someone interesting or an old friend to chat with. But lately, I'm lucky if I get to check my mail. I think it's just par for the season.
Speaking of the upcoming season, I've already started my Christmas shopping, which is particularly amazing for me, since I don't usually do so until after Thanksgiving. And to make it even better, while out of town this weekend for work, I actually made quite some progress on it. I only have a couple of people to buy for now! I'm in shock and quite pleased with myself. Some of this may have to do with the fact that I'm really cutting back this year. Money is tight with my new house payment and with all the hospital bills rolling in. So, I am trying to be creative and lower key this year. It's hard, since in the past I've been used to spending a bit more. Sorry friends and family... it just ain't happenin' this year! To quote my niece: "It's not the gifts we receive, but the time we get to spend with family that matters." I'll add friends to that too... since I love my friends as much as my family.
Thanksgiving is this upcoming week... wow the month has gone by quickly. I really do enjoy Thanksgiving. Many times, I enjoy it so much more than Christmas. There's not so much stress involved. Just a nice dinner to pull loved ones together. Of course I may be a bit spoiled since I don't ever host the event, but crash my brother's festivities. I do contribute a couple of items to the meal, but they do a great job of preparing all the rest.
Well I suppose this is enough rambling for now. I need to post my last scrapbook/journal page that I created for October's group meeting. I will do that soon ............... hopefully. lol I haven't even started my assigned page for November. sigh.
