I Think My Subconscious Ordered This...

From 12/13/2007
I recently got online while at work and set out to purchase some children's books for the classrooms from Amazon.com. I found all of the books quickly and easily and made the purchase. I was quite excited to find some of these great books that I know the teachers will love. They arrived really quickly and as I opened up the first box, I noticed some thicker books. Immediately I was curious, since children's books are always quite thin. So as I stood in my office digging through the box, I pulled out one of thicker books. My first reaction when I saw what it was to quickly glance around the hall to see if anyone was looking! I had accidentally ordered 5 copies of some Women's Erotica!! Who knows how the hell they were ordered, but there they were sitting in this box amongst some very innocent children's stories. LOL I do wonder what the workers at Amazon thought as they packaged these up!

I have since boxed those 5 books back up and returned them. AND I've shared my story with those around the office who can appreciate the blunder. I do wonder however, if my subconsious is trying to tell me something!

1 Comment: Ha Ha! Well, did you really order them or did Amazon mistakenly place them in your order? Maybe it wasn't you at all. See? (Celia)

BOO!!

From 10/27/2007
Halloween is my favorite holiday. I just love it!! It's autumn, it's spooky, it revolves around candy, and you get to be someone else! So, I took a couple of quizzes.

What Kind of Monster Are You?
(I loved the results!!)
You Are A Vampire
You have a real thirst for bliss, and you consider yourself a true hedonist.
And you're not afraid to walk alone in life, if it means getting what you truly crave.
You truly enjoy entrancing people.
Not to mention the ensuing pleasures of the flesh.
Your tastes have been called decadent and bizarre.
You usually give in to your temptations, no matter how primal.
Your greatest power: Your flawless ability to seduce and charm
Your greatest weakness: Human flesh

What's Your Halloween Personality?
(The results were somewhat true, but not right on.)
What Your Halloween Habits Say About You
You love the drama of Halloween.
You definitely like to have the best costume around - and everyone noticing you.
You definitely think of yourself as someone who has a dark side.
And part of having that dark side means not showing it.
Your inner child is stubborn and a bit bossy. You truly fear the dark side of humanity.
You are a true misanthrope.
You're prone to be quite emotional and over dramatic.
Deep down, you enjoy being scared out of your mind... even if you don't admit it.
You are a traditionalist with most aspects of your life.
You like your Halloween costume to be basic, well made,
and conventional enough to wear another year.

Do I Need A Man?

From 8/15/2007
A fellow blogger friend posted this quiz on her blog and I decided to see what my results were. I kind of already knew this, but hey, it's always nice to have things confirmed by a very "scientific" quiz.

You Don't Need a Man, but You Want One!
You like having a guy in your life, and overall, you prefer not to be single. You won't go out with a guy out of desperation.. you rather be alone. However, when you're single, you do tend to obsess a little over dating.Because no matter how good your single life is, it's better with a great guy around.

Want to find out whether you need a man or not? Take the quiz for yourself!

Some Good Advice! (And Perfect For My Mood)

From 7/29/2007
Aquarius: January 20 - February 18
Let your love light shine today, dear Aquarius. There is a great deal of passion in your heart that needs to be expressed. Let your romantic nature take the reins, and allow your creative nature to blossom. Be assertive with regard to the ones you love. Muster up your courage and feel free to take the lead. Be loving and caring without being smothering and clingy. Give others room to breath!

I do actually feel this way quite a bit! And yes, I always have to be careful to not be too clingy once I start to share all that love and passion!! It's just sooo easy to go overboard, because I've usually been holding it all in for quite some time. It's kind of like how some are with anger.

What Color Is Your Kiss?

From July 2007
Alright, I know that this little quiz might be a bit juvenile, but we all have to revert to our teenager selves every so often. So go ahead and have some fun! (BTW, my results were right on the money!)

Your Kiss is Black Your kisses are amazing. You put a lot of effort into your kissing technique. You are a perfectionist, and you never leave any kissing detail to chance. When you're kissing, you like to be in charge. You don't enjoy someone else taking the lead. You know you're the best kisser. In fact, you're often disappointed by how other people kiss.

Kissing Type: Thoughtful
People See Your Kisses as: Amazingly unreal You Kiss
Best With: A Pink Kisser
Stay away from: A Green Kisser

07-07-07

From 07-07-07
Today is quite the popular day! The number 7 seems to be considered a lucky number for most, so it only seems logical that today would be important. From what I've been watching in the news, today is extremely popular for those getting married.

The number 7 for me is actually more of a favorite number than really having any luck behind it. Who knows why I even like it, I just do and have since young. While playing softball as a teenager, I always had the number 7 on my shirt. If I could have controlled my volleyball jersey number, I would have done the same.

So would I have chosen today to get married (if there were a man in the picture)? I do believe so. It would certainly make the Anniversary a bit easier to remember, right? But since that isn't the case, I'm destined to treat it like any other Saturday. I may just get my car washed today. Is that worth remembering? LOL

What will you say you were doing on 07-07-07 ?

Reminds Me of Home

From June 2007
This was an email (a "funny") that was forwarded to me quite a long time ago. But I printed it off once, because it reminded me so much of how life was where I grew up.

Small Towns
In a small town...
1. You can name everyone you graduated with.
2. You know what 4-H means.
3. You went to parties at a pasture, barn, gravel pit, or in the middle of a dirt road. On Monday you could always tell who was at the party because of the scratches on their legs from running through the woods when the party was busted (see #6).
4. You used to "drag" Main.
5. You said the "F" word and your parents knew within the hour.
6. You scheduled parties around the schedules of different police officers, because you knew which one would bust you and which ones wouldn't.
7. You could never buy cigarettes because all the store clerks knew how old you were (and if you were old enough, they'd tell your parents anyhow.)
8. When you did find somebody old enough or brave enough to buy cigarettes, you still had to go out into the country and drive on backroads to smoke them.
9. It was cool to date somebody from the neighboring town.
10. The whole school went to the same party after graduation.
11. You didn't give directions by street names but rather by references. "Turn by Nelson's house, go 2 blocks to Anderson's, and it's four houses left of the track field..."
12. The golf course only had 9 holes (if you even had a golf course!)
13. You couldn't help but date a friend's ex boyfriend/girlfriend.
14. Your car stayed filthy because of the dirt roads, and you will never own a dark vehicle for that reason.
15. The town next to you was considered "trashy" or "snooty," but was actually just like yours.
16. You referred to anyone with a house newer than 1965 as the "rich" people.
17. The people in the "big city" dressed funny, and then you picked up the trend 2 years later.
18. Anyone you wanted could be found at the local gas station or hamburger joint.
19. You saw at least one friend a week driving a tractor through town on one of your friends driving a grain truck to school occasionally.
20. The gym teacher suggested you haul hay for the summer to get stronger.
21. Directions were given using the one and only stop light as a reference.
22. When you decided to walk somewhere for exercise, 5 people would over and ask if you wanted a ride.
23. Your teachers called you by your older siblings' names.
24. You could charge at any local store or write checks without any ID.
25. The closest Mc Donalds was 25 miles away or more.
26. The closest mall was over an hour away.
27. It was normal to see an old man riding through town on a riding lawn mower.
28. You've pee'd in a cornfield.
29. Most people went by a nickname.
30. Your teachers remembered when they taught your parents.

Such fun memories! Some of these things are still true in my hometown. Some of these are true in the small town I live in now!

What Flavor of Ice Cream Are You?

From June 2007
Ice cream is one of my all-time favorite treats, ESPECIALLY in the summer. The only time I'll refuse ice cream is when it's plain ol' vanilla, unless I can load it with toppings. Overall, I tend to like toppings on any flavor (or get ice cream that is already loaded with nuts, caramel, brownies, marshmellows, or fudge). Anyway, this quiz stood out to me, since I've recently increased my intake of ice cream. The results were of no surprise... Duh! Chocolate is my favorite!
You Are A Chocolate Ice Cream Girl Dramatic. Powerful. Flirty.

I'd love to hear what your results were!

I'm Afraid I Have A Disorder Called AAADD

From 6/2007
AAADD- KNOW THE SYMPTOMS.....YOU MAY JUST HAVE THIS DISORDER!
Recently, I was diagnosed with A.A.A.D.D. - Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder. This is how it manifests:

I decide to water my garden. As I turn on the hose in the driveway, I look over at my car and decide it needs washing. As I start toward the garage, I notice mail on the porch table that I brought up from the mail box earlier. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys on the table, put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table, and notice that the can is full. So, I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the garbage first. But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the garbage anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my check book off the table, and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go inside the house to my desk where I find the can of Coke I'd been drinking. I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the Coke aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over. The Coke is getting warm, and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold. As I head toward the kitchen with the Coke, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye--they need water. I put the Coke on the counter and discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers. I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, I'll be looking for the remote, but I won't remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers. I pour some water in the flowers, but quite a bit of it spills on the floor. So, I set the remote back on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then, I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do.

At the end of the day:
the car isn't washed,
the bills aren't paid,
there is a warm can of Coke sitting on the counter,
the flowers don't have enough water,
there is still only 1 check in my check book,
I can't find the remote,
I can't find my glasses,
and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.

Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day, and I'm really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check my e-mail....

What Color Do You Need?

From June 2007
Took a quiz tonight based on my mood.... and the results suggested that:
You Need Some Orange in Your Life
Orange will make you feel open, lively, and artistic. And with a little orange, you will project an aura of friendliness. If you want bolder experiences, you've got to get a little orange in your life!

For extra punch: Combine orange with red or yellow
The downside of orange: It's too powerful and unusual for some people to deal with
The consequences of more orange in your life: You will become more creative in almost every aspect of your life

You will find humor in the most serious and dismal situations
You will feel like life is exciting, even when you're doing ordinary things

I thought that was kind of cool! Especially since fall colors and leaves are my favorite and so is being creative. I could use some "inspiration" so I think I'll wear an orange shirt tomorrow!!

A Promising Horoscope

From 5/31/2007
My horoscope today read:
"The gentle winds of change are blowing through your life at the moment, dear Aquarius. You have a feeling of newness and an open attitude toward the world. Some outside events will be coming up in your life that give you the impression you are advancing in a concrete manner toward a new life. You can expect to have some pleasant surprises."

I like to read my horoscope, just like I enjoy fortune cookies (although I hate it when a fortune cookie contains a character anaylsis or a phrase of wisdom instead of an actual fortune). I think that there's just a part of me that wants to believe (or wishes) there really is a way to fore-tell the future. I've had my palm read before and I have a deck of tarot cards that I dabble with every so often.

The above horoscope really does sound promising. Mostly because a new life always sounds enticing. I love change. I know, I'm weird. Most people hate change. I tend to seek it out to bring something new and exciting to what I feel has gone stale in life. And so I pose the question -- do ya think things might change in my life now, because I read this horoscope and will then through my thinking and focus on these things, make it happen? OR if it comes true, is it really because there is some power to the astrological signs? (I tend to think it's about the power of our thoughts, rather than the astrological signs.)

By the way, when I had my palm read in New Orleans two summers ago, I was told I would be married within two years. In July, my two year deadline hits. Hmmmm.... I haven't met anyone yet that could fill those shoes. Although 07/07/07 is a very appealing marriage date (the number 7 is my favorite). Unfortunately, I just don't see it happening -- so much for positive thinking, right? (Goes against everything that The Secret says to do!)

Hair Removal At Its Best!

From May 2007
A month ago or so I received a forwarded email from my sister-in-law. You know, one of those funny ones that gets sent and forwarded to millions through the email airwaves. I'm not much into "forwards." Often I delete them after glancing briefly at their content. But this one caught my attention and is probably one of the funniest ones I've ever read. So I thought I'd post it on my blog, not only for all to read, but also as a way for me to save it... to archive the things that we women go through. Who knows if the story is actually true, but it really doesn't matter because we've all done something similar to this at one point or another. All in the name of beauty and feminism!

All hair removal methods have tricked women with their promises of easy, painless removal - The epilady, scissors, razors, Nair And now... the wax. My night began as any other normal weeknight. Come home, fix dinner, play with the kids. I then had the thought that would ring painfully in my mind for the next few hours: "Maybe I should pull the waxing kit out of the medicine cabinet." So I headed to the site of my demise: the bathroom.

It was one of those "cold wax" kits. No melting a clump of hot wax, you just rub the strips together in your hand, they get warm and you peel them apart and press them to your leg (or wherever else) and you pull the hair right off. No muss, no fuss. How hard can it be? I mean, I'm not a genius, but I am mechanically inclined enough to figure this out. (YA THINK!?!)

So I pull one of the thin strips out. It's two strips facing each other stuck together. Instead of rubbing them together, my genius kicks in so I get out the hair dryer and heat it to 1000 degrees. ("Cold wax," yeah... right!) I lay the strip across my thigh. Hold the skin around it tight and pull. It works! OK, so it wasn't the best feeling, but it wasn't too bad. I can do this! Hair removal no longer eludes me! I am She-rah, fighter of all wayward body hair and maker of smooth skin extraordinaire.

With my next wax strip I move north. After checking on the kids, I sneak back into the bathroom, for the ultimate hair fighting championship. I drop my panties and place one foot on the toilet. Using the same procedure, I apply the one strip across the right side of my bikini line, covering the right half of my *hoo-hoo* and stretching down to the inside of my butt cheek (Yes, it was a long strip) I inhale deeply and brace myself....RRRRIIIPPP!!!! I'm blind!!! Blinded from pain!!!!....OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!! Vision returning, I notice that I've only managed to pull off half the strip. CRAP!!! Another deep breath and RRIIPP!! ?Everything is swirly and spotted. I think I may pass out...must stay conscious...Do I hear crashing drums??? Breathe, breathe...OK, back to normal.

I want to see my trophy - a wax covered strip, the one that has caused me so much pain, with my hairy pelt sticking to it. I want to revel in the glory that is my triumph over body hair. I hold up the strip! There's no hair on it. Where is the hair??? WHERE IS THE WAX???

Slowly I ease my head down, foot still perched on the toilet. I see the hair. The hair that should be on the strip. I touch. I am touching wax.

CRAP! I run my fingers over the most sensitive part of my body, which is now covered in cold wax and matted hair. Then I make the next BIG mistake...Remember my foot is still propped up on the toilet? I know I need to do something. So I put my foot down.

DANG!!!!!!!! I hear the slamming of a cell door. *Hoo-Hoo*?? Sealed shut! Butt?? Sealed shut!
I penguin walk around the bathroom trying to figure out what to do and think to myself "Please don't let me get the urge to poop. My head may pop off!" What can I do to melt the wax? Hot water!! Hot water melts wax!!! I'll run the hottest water I can stand into the bathtub, get in, immerse the wax-covered bits and the wax should melt and I can gently wipe it off, right??? WRONG!!!!!!!

I get In the tub - the water is slightly hotter than that used to torture prisoners of war or sterilize surgical equipment - I sit. Now, the only thing worse than having your nether regions glued together is having them glued together and then glued to the bottom of the tub...in scalding hot water. Which, by the way, doesn't melt cold wax. So, now I'm stuck to the bottom of the tub as though I had cement-epoxied myself to the porcelain!! God bless the man who had convinced me a few months ago to have a phone put in the bathroom!!!!!

I call my friend, thinking surely she has waxed before and has some secret of how to get me undone. It's a very good conversation starter - "So, my butt and *Hoo-Hoo* are glued together to the bottom of the tub!" There is a slight pause. She doesn't know any secret tricks for removal but she does try to hide her laughter from me. She wants to know exactly where the wax is located, "Are we talking cheeks or *Hoo-Hoo*?"

She's laughing out loud by now...I can hear her. I give her the rundown and she suggests I call the number on the side of the box. YEAH!!!!! Right!! I should be the joke of someone else's night. While we go through various solutions. I resort to scraping the wax off with a razor. Nothing feels better then to have your girlie goodies covered in hot wax, glued shut, stuck to the tub in super hot water and then dry-shaving the sticky wax off!!

While we go through various solutions. I resort to scraping the wax off with a razor. Nothing feels better then to have your girlie goodies covered in hot wax, glued shut, stuck to the tub in super hot water and then dry-shaving the sticky wax off!! By now the brain is not working, dignity has taken a major hike and I'm pretty sure I'm going to need Post-Traumatic Stress counseling for this event. My friend is still talking with me when I finally see my saving grace.... the lotion they give you to remove the excess wax. What do I really have to lose at this point? I rub some on and OH MY GOD!!!!!!!

The scream probably woke the kids and scared the dickens out of my friend. It's sooo painful, but I really don't care. IT WORKS!! It works!! I get a hearty congratulation from my friend and she hangs up. I successfully remove the remainder of the wax and then notice to my grief and despair.... THE HAIR IS STILL THERE.......ALL OF IT!!!!!!!!!!
So I recklessly shave it off. Heck, I'm numb by now. Nothing hurts. ? I could have amputated my own leg at this point. Next week I'm going to try hair color...... Now that's funny Notttttttttt

A BLIND DATE

FROM OCTOBER 2006
Yesterday I went on a blind lunch date. It was pretty pleasant overall, but for all the nervousness and excitement (my friends, not mine) that just seems to come naturally as one gears up for these kinds of things, it really was just ok.

A month or so ago, I wrote a blog entry about one of my journal/scrapbook pages that I had made/written on what I had learned about being a single person. One of the things I mentioned in that entry was that I find that married or attached people tend to be uncomfortable with the idea of others around them being single and therefore want to "fix" it. In this case, I don't think that any of my co-worker friends who set me up wanted to fix me, they were trying to fix him. He is recently divorced (his ex-wife is in my journal group and was actually the one who came up with the idea to set us up - a bit weird if you ask me), he's a bit in shock, and he's totally new to the dating world - at least in this whole new world of dating as it is today. I actually felt a bit sorry for him. Even though he really didn't go into much detail about his divorce, from what I had heard and just from reading his body language, he gave me the impression of a "whipped dog". Tired, overwhelmed (he actually did use that word to describe his life right now), and lost. With this in mind and just overall "karma or kismit", there wasn't an initial attraction or spark. However, I do see quite a bit of potential for a friend -- and I really do love having guy friends. They offer such a different perspective and they break up the monotony that I find with all the women I am surrounded by at work and in my friendships.

There are plans for a second meeting that was arranged way before yesterday's lunch date. The same friends who set us up are having a party on the 28th. This was actually supposed to be our intial meeting, but we both felt that we wanted to meet alone first - to avoid the fish bowl effect of being watched by everyone. I'm sure this will still happen, but at least we have already talked a bit.

Anyway, I think I'll just add this to all my other dating and blind date experiences. It's always good to be out of your comfort zone every now and then. AND it's definitely good to meet and have new people in your life.

PSYCHIC ABILITIES? ME?

FROM SUNDAY, AUGUST 20, 2006
I was quite the bum yesterday. Not really feeling well, I didn't plan on going anywhere, and therefore looked as well as felt the part of a bum most of the day. I didn't even jump into the shower until 6:00 in the evening. But just before 1:00 or so, I decided that I did need to do something about my breath and teeth. As I was standing at the bathroom sink, brushing away, the thought popped into my head that a certain friend was going to show up at my house. Of course I dismissed the thought as quickly as it came, since she doesn't live in town, and had been in the area the weekend before, so why would she even be here again this weekend? Besides, why was I thinking such things?! Why would that random of a thought come to my brain? After I finished brushing, I walked to the front door to look outside. (I had been sitting in a back room of the house, on my computer for a while, and just wanted to check to see what it was like outside -- weather, etc.) As I looked out to the front street, low and behold, this friend pulls up and parks in front of my house. Now that was too weird to me! She reminded me that they had their 20 year class reunion this weekend, and wondered if they could come in and freshen up from one activity before heading to a BBQ. I shared my story of my "psychic abilities". (I was all too proud of myself :) -- I mean, I really would love to be psychic!) She stayed about 10 to 15 minutes, and then was off to the next adventure.

I don't really think of this experience as a sort of inspiration since I can't see what purpose there was in knowing ahead of time that my friend was going to drop by. Besides, it really didn't feel that way. It was just weird and quirky. Kind of like how you know the phones going to ring right before it does. Or that you even know who it is that's going to call. I've had that happen many times in my life. Anyway, it was a fun experience and I wouldn't mind more.
